Paper fuse

Paper fuse (also known as Chinese cracker fuse or Chinese paper fuse) is used almost exclusively in strings of firecrackers. It is made of a thin trail of black powder wrapped with a thin tissue paper. It is likely the earliest type of fuse. This fuse is considered unreliable it is prone to burning at wildly varying rates and spontaneously losing fire and reigniting. It can be placed in a paper tube to make quick match.

to start with, make a few pieces of touch paper with whole coffee filters.
When dry, cut the filters in half and fold about here (picture coming in a few weeks, if you roll your own cigarettes you'll know where) You'll want very fine green mix, only a tiny bit is needed. Put a thin trail in the crease made by the fold and press down. Making sure the BP in the paper is evenly distributed, fold the paper at the crease enclosing the powder in it and begin to roll it into a tube pinching it tighter each time. At the end roll it in your hands like you are making playdough string to tighten it and then lastly, paint it with NC lacquer to both bind and waterproof.
Understandably this method is not for everyone and is labor intensive, but I find it produces an even burning 1 inch per 1.5 seconds fuse of quality comparable to cannon visco, only more flexible without the unraveling at creases in the fuse.
After a few months of practice you will accomplish this task in about a minute per fuse.
