Tetrahydrofuran (THF)

Formula: (CH2)4O

Description: A colorless, water-miscible organic liquid. It is a highly polar solvent and is used mainly to dissolve PVC

Hazards: THF is a highly flammable and care should be taken to keep sources of ignition. When handling latex gloves should not be used as THF will dissolve them. Gloves made from polyacrylonitrile should be used, such as common kitchen Marigolds for the amateur chemist.
